My personal feedback on the rough cut
After watching our rough cut opening of the thriller I have come to realise that I need to make ammense improvements by changing several different things. However there were also a number of things that were done very well and I was pleased with.
Improvements to make for final thriller
After watching the rough cut opening of our thriller, several times it has helped me to understand that the quality and the standard of the opening wasn't very good. This is because firstly we did not include any background sound to the opening which made me lose interest in the opening. This could be improved in my final thriller as we can include foley sound effects which would help not only me but the target audience to stay focused and engaged whilst watching the opening. This may persuade them to carry on watching the opening. In additon the 'bullying' scenes came across as a blur and were also very jumpy. This is a huge problem as the audience may not understand exactly what is going on and therefore make them lose intrest. This can be improved in my final thriller as I can use Final Cut Pro to trim and cut some scenes in order for the scences to flow well and therefore helping the audience stay engaged whilst watching it and also help them understand exactly what is going on. Another improvement to make is to add titles and credits as this is a significant part in the opening.
Thumbs up
However there was also many things I was quite happy with. One thing I was happy with was the way the very beginning of the opening started with a scene in the science laboratory. This may interest the audience as it seems like a very interesting topic to begin with. Another thing which I was pleased about was how the dripping tap was focussed right at the beginning whilst a character was playing about with the science equipment. This looks good and may help keep the audience engaged.
