Why is genre important in PDE?

PDE=Production, Distribution, Exhibition

The genre is important as helps the producers and directors know which stars to approach. This means they can get actors to fit the genre in which they suit. The genre also helps the producers and directors to choose which props to use. Another reason as to why the genre is important is because it helps the audience choose and the audience also have expectations of what they'll see. In addition, one final reason why genre is important is because it helps the marketing and advertising to know which element to have in the poster.

Analyse a film poster and explain how it promotes the genre
The 'In Time' picture represents sci-fi, action and romance. Romance is shown clearly as the couple who are in the centre of the picture, are looking into each other's eyes, and also the male character is holding the female characters hair which shows they are in love, linking this image to romance.

The gun in the female characters hand represents action as it represents deaths and murders, as a gun is a obvious prop used in a film to be used in a murder scene. The background setting and the numbers on the male characters hand is very futuristic, representing sci-fi through technology.
