Genre


Define genre: Genre is a type of category for a film such as
Horror
Romance
Sci-fic
Adventure
Gothic
Comedy
Thriller
Action

Cross genres are a mixture of two genres within a film example 'In time' has a cross genre of romance and sci-fic.

Conventions of action movies:
Guns
Fighting
Fast movements
Explosions
Weapons
Transport
Hero/villans
Stunts
Marketing and advertising - help to know which elements to have in the poster

Why is genre important om PDE:
The producers and directors help to choose the right actors to fit different genres also what props and stuff are going to be used.

The film poster 'In time' represents a mixture of genres
Action: The gun on the girls hand tells us that there is going to be some sort of conflict and action within it.
Romance: Both actors are looking into each others eyes as if they were in love
Sci-fic: The showing of numbers on his hand in green this represents sci-fic.





A subgenre is subcategory within a particular genre
